Protection and Security
Port facility security was reinforced by the international community after the terrorist acts of 11 September 2001, in response to the new maritime regulatory regime set out in the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) and the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code.
The existing security in Ports of Tenerife, which has made it possible for the major shipping companies to choose them as the home port for big cruise ships, is also reinforced by the application of this Code.
The Port Police is undoubtedly one of the main cornerstones to reach the security and efficiency objectives for the development of port activity.
